COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGIES, INC. (COMTek) NAMED AS TOP THREE D.C. AREA TELECOM/TECH FIRM IN NEW "BLACK ENTERPRISE 100" LIST

COMTek Previously Added to "Inc. 500" List in December 2004
CHANTILLY , VA. - May 19, 2005 – Communication Technologies, Inc. (COMTek), a leading global provider of broadband and information technology (IT) services, is one of the top three black-owned telecommunications/technology firms in the greater Washington, D.C. area, according to the new "Black Enterprise (BE) 100" list for 2005.
The announcement will be made today during the 10th Annual Black Enterprise Entrepreneurs Conference in Dallas, Texas. Nationwide, COMTek ranks as the #53 firm in the magazine’s "industrial services" category. In the greater D.C. area, only two other larger firms with a primary focus on telecommunications/technology -- RS Information Services in McLean (#12) and Telecommunications Systems, Inc. in Annapolis (#27) -- ranked higher than COMTek.
COMTek President and CEO Dr. Joseph E. Fergus said: "We are delighted to be recognized for our growth and innovation as a leading broadband and IT services company. The recognition we are getting today from 'Black Enterprise' underscores the fact that COMTek is rapidly emerging as one of the world’s premier technology companies, including the first in the United States to commercially deploy broadband over powerline's on a city-wide basis."
As Black Enterprise magazine notes: "In today's environment, BE100s companies must be fit, fast, and inventive to not only survive but thrive. Whether running a mom-and-pop or a leviathan, today's CEO's must view their companies' longevity through a Darwinian prism. The BE100s have had to compete with their peers as well as Fortune 500 monoliths. Management must create bigger and better mousetraps with fewer hands. Companies are facing a more discriminating customer base that prizes, above all else, quality, value, and efficiency."
The BE100s consists of 280 companies in eight categories: industrial service, auto, advertising, banks, asset managers, insurance, investment bank, and private equity. The broad "industrial service" category includes manufacturing, telecommunications, technology and a range of other activities.
